Barack Obama has never introduced an energy policy. Today he unveiled an attack on McCain and the oil companies. Obama lacks the vision needed to turn our energy woes around. His only answer is to jump on the victim bandwagon and blame Bush. The problem with that theory is that democrats have no idea of how to solve the problem.
In an earlier post I suggested that the DEMS need to implement a energy plan as promised or implement the McCain ideas. At least McCain and president Bush have ideas. They may not be what the DEMs want to hear but they are ideas. What is the hangup with drilling in ANWR? What is the deal about not forsaking the gasoline tax for the summer? Is it easier to play the victim? Is it easier to blame the oil companies?
The impending disaster concerning energy is an American problem. It is not the fault of Bush and the oil companies. It is the fault of short sighted politicians that attempt to smear everyone else.
Obama's great energy plan is to tax oil companies. What do you think will happen there? I guess the oil companies will just say OK mate here is more of our money. No! they will make Americans pay even more for gasoline plus layoff employees to cover the additional expenses.
The DEMs are wholly to blame for this crisis. They came into power on the promise of providing cheaper energy. They do not have a plan on how to accomplish that in 18 months. Now Obama falsely accuses Bush and McCain for the high energy costs. This in spite of the fact that in less than a year the gasoline costs have doubled. This in spite of the fact the DEMs have offered no energy plan with the exception of the failed Global Warming farce bill that would have further increased the gasoline tax. Obama your rhetoric may be bought by the ignorant but your when in doubt tax theory is not going to work. 5 months is a long time. In that five months I would suggest better energy plans.
Taxing the oil companies and moving towards ethanol will destroy the economy. Ethanol will increase the cost of food. Higher energy costs will create more unemployment. Your policies are designed to crash the American economy. Is that the only way a DEM can win? Crash the economy and we win? What a shame that power is all that matters to the elitist DEMs. How out of touch.

Obama's tax plan is a shell game. Let's take taxes from gasoline producers to lower the price of gasoline? This does not seem ridiculous?

The US oil companies are not a monopoly. OPEC sets the supply of oil and therefore the price of oil. America is not a part of OPEC. Get a clue.
OPEC does not set the price of oil, moron. It's set in the market. The oil companies should be taxed heavily on their windfall profits, and the money should be used to subsidize renewables. When the Republicans scream about it, the Democrats should laugh in their faces and tell them to run against solar power in the 2010 midterms.

Hey Republican moron, OPEC produces 43% of the oil. Most of the windfall is going to non-OPEC nations, including the third-largest oil producer, the U.S.

I am sorry but you perhaps you need more schooling. You lack an understanding of how the oil markets work. The OPEC cartel controls the prices because they control 43% of production. Shut down 43% of your production and failing to meet demand cause prices to increase. I know it is difficult for idiots like yourself to understand basic economics but please come into an argument with more than just insults. Please grow up and read more. Reading more than the left talking points will provide you a greater understanding of how markets work.
No, OPEC does not control prices. They are certainly a major influence, but the reality is that prices are rising because demand is outstripping supply worldwide. The non-OPEC countries aren't increasing production either. Why not?
In any case, the Republicans hate taxes unless those taxes are in the form of unearned profits delivered to oil companies on reserves discovered a long time ago. Then you want Americans to be gouged to the hilt; this is because you love money and hate your country.
Yes OPEC does control the prices. If OPEC decided to increase supplies to maixmum capacity tomorrow we would be buying gasoline at $20 a barrel shortly after.
I don't hate taxes when there is good reason. Redistribution of wealth is not a good reason. Taking oil company profits simply because the LIBs believed they are unearned is ridiculous. You called these reserves discovered long ago and therefore unearned profits. Is that not how our investments work. Invest $1,000 today and take out $1,100 later?
